SAP Data Conversion (BODS & MDG)

We are looking for a highly skilled SAP BODS Data Conversion Specialist to spearhead critical data migration workstreams for large-scale S/4HANA and SAP MDG programs. In this role, you will be responsible for the architecture and execution of complex ETL processes, ensuring that enterprise-level master and transactional data is transitioned with absolute precision, quality, and governance.

Core Responsibilities

• ETL Architecture: Lead the end-to-end design, development, and execution of SAP BODS jobs tailored for S/4HANA migration and MDG integration.
• Logic & Mapping: Decipher complex source system structures and business rules to engineer sophisticated transformation logic and mapping specifications.
• MDG Alignment: Collaborate with Functional Consultants to ensure all migration activities synchronise with MDG data models, validation rules, and governance workflows.
• Quality & Cleansing: Architect and implement data profiling, enrichment, and cleansing routines to uplift data health prior to ingestion.
• Load Management: Oversee data loads into staging environments, SAP MDG, and S/4HANA, managing delta cycles and rigorous reconciliation protocols.
• Documentation Excellence: Author comprehensive technical specifications, mapping documents, and procedural guides for the data migration lifecycle.
• Defect Resolution: Lead data reconciliation efforts and resolve complex defects during mock conversions, SIT, and UAT phases.
• Strategic Cutover: Contribute to high-stakes cutover planning, ensuring data readiness and post-migration assurance for the business.

Technical Expertise & Experience

• BODS Specialist: Extensive track record of delivering successful SAP data migration projects specifically utilizing SAP Business Objects Data Services (BODS).
• MDG Proficiency: Hands-on experience with SAP MDG across multiple domains (Finance, Material, or Business Partner).
• Target Knowledge: Deep understanding of S/4HANA data structures, including staging tables and target API/IDoc requirements.
• Performance Tuning: Advanced SQL skills and a proven ability to optimise ETL job performance for large-scale data volumes.
• Methodological Depth: Solid experience in greenfield or brownfield implementations, particularly within complex enterprise environments.
• Agile Collaboration: Comfortable operating within Agile delivery frameworks and mentoring junior technical staff.

Mandatory Security Requirements

• Citizenship: Must be an Australian Citizen.
• Mandatory Clearance: Current AGSVA Baseline Security Clearance.
• Highly Regarded: Active NV1 Clearance is preferred.

Professional Attributes & Education

• Communication: Refined ability to translate technical data challenges into business-ready insights for stakeholders.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Preferred Certifications: SAP BODS or SAP MDG professional certifications.
• Advanced Toolsets: Exposure to SAP Information Steward, SLT, or SDI is considered a significant advantage.
